Veterinary Science
Understanding the anatomy, physiology, nutrition, behaviour and pathology of wild and domestic animals in order to maintain their health.
In a commercial setting, veterinarians identify, diagnose and treat diseases present in animals. They may also take on a research role in order to design methods of treating these diseases.
Applications in cellular agriculture:
Veterinary scientists’ understanding of animal physiology and disease are applicable to many aspects of cellular agriculture, particularly optimisation of media formulations, culture conditions and scaffolding design as well as contamination management. They will also be required to manage the health of cell donor animals.
